Samsung takes lead in Smartphone Market

Smartphones made by Samsung are shipped more often all over the world than any other competitor, CNN Money reported. Strategy Analytics reported Friday that the Korean electronics manufacturer either shipped or sold 27.08 million smartphones last quarter, taking the crown away from Apple. Apple sold 17.07 million of its iPhone smartphone last quarter. PC World reported that the latest report is a shift from last year when Nokia dominated a third of the growing smartphone market, followed by Apple at 17 percent and Research in Motion at 15 percent. Samsung was in fourth place with 8.8 percent of the market. However, analysts are predicting strong sales for Apple as its new generation of the iPhone the 4S made its big release last month. "Apple's fourth quarter launch of the iPhone 4S and lower pricing of older models will certainly boost volumes, and Nokia's recent launch of Windows Phone smartphones marks the beginning of a new era for the company," said Ramon Llamas of IDS to PC World. Llamas added with improve technologies, different companies will take turns at the top spot of the market.{source}
